All patients with learning difficulties are offered a full annual health check.
These are undertaken by one of our GPs and usually supported by our Health Care Assistant. Health checks can be done in the surgery or at the patients’ place of residence, whichever is best for the patient.
The health check involves monitoring blood pressure, height, weight, BMI and where possible a blood test to check for any other health problems. In addition the GP will discuss a patient’s health and wellbeing as appropriate with the patient and / or their carer.
